Document GHS pictograms and classification
GHS pictograms make hazards visible quickly. In digital documentation, they should be maintained as structured classification data, not just as images.

Pictograms become more useful when combined with signal word, H statements, P statements and EUH notes.
Use the SDS as source
Section 2 of the safety data sheet contains labeling elements such as hazard pictograms and signal word. These fields can be used as suggestions for documentation.
Working basis
Transfer labelling from the SDS
- Check the product identifier and document revision.
- Take hazard pictograms and the signal word from SDS Section 2.2.
- Record H, P and EUH statements completely with their correct codes.
- Always compare automatically detected suggestions with the SDS and label.
Practical example
Example: GHS07 is more than an image
If Section 2.2 lists GHS07, the signal word “Warning” and specific hazard statements, these elements are recorded separately. The pictogram alone is not enough to assess the hazard or protective measures.
